Ensure Erie's Future!

  • Intelligent, Sustainable Growth
Prioritizing thoughtful development that balances progress with community needs is paramount. The voice of our community has been lost in how we plan our future.  Andrew will work to restore an inclusive, detailed planning process that welcomes residents' voices back into the conversation.

  • Collaborative Decision-Making
Embracing unity and diverse voices to create solutions that benefit everyone is key.  With a proven track record of nonpartisan leadership, Andrew is committed to solving problems in the best interest of Erie's residents above himself and partisan politics. He welcomes all voices into the conversation, believing we are better when we include different perspectives.

  • Transparent Fiscal Accountability
Ensuring our town’s finances are open, honest, and wisely managed is critical. Erie has a spending problem. In just two years, the rainy day fund was eliminated, town reserves aggressively spent down, and cuts are being considered for core services like road maintenance. Andrew will work to restore transparent fiscal accountability so residents are confident that town leaders are good stewards of their money and investing in what matters.

  • Community-Focused Priorities
Advocating for the needs of all residents, not just a select few, has to be a priority. Erie’s portfolio of community-centric amenities is one of the many reasons Erie is the best place to live and raise a family. To continue this momentum, I will champion building an outdoor waterpark/aquatic facility to align with strong resident support.

Meet Andrew

Headshot of Andrew

Andrew Moore developed his government experience during three terms as Mayor of the Town of Erie from 2004 to 2010. During that time, he brought the Erie Community Center, Ballfields, Open Space and Trails Funding, Ethics Ordinance, Rainy Day Fund, and Library to fruition.

Andrew is married to Janice, a doctor of physical therapy, who works at Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) and was an Erie Trustee from 2012—2016. Their children, Matthew and Megan, work and live nearby. Janice and Andrew help raise Guide Dog for the Blind puppies, which go on to be service animals for the visually impaired.

Andrew is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Colorado School of Mines, a prestigious STEM-focused public university. His emphasis on exceptional customer service, organizational efficiencies, long-term success, and fiscal prudence influence his decision-making.

Before joining Mines, Andrew was the CIO at the Boulder Valley School District and held senior leadership roles at Sun Microsystems.

Andrew holds an Executive MBA from CU (2020) and degrees in computer science and sociology.

Why I Am Running

Erie has been my family's home for over two decades. My children were raised here, and my wife and I feel so blessed to spend our time in this wonderful community.  As the former Mayor of Erie and a proud, involved resident, I stay close to the decisions of our leaders and the direction of town.

Unfortunately, over the last two years, Erie seems to have abandoned the values that have helped create our amazing town. While Erie has historically valued prudent financial management, our spending is spiraling out of control. While Erie has historically encouraged inclusive long-term planning, resident participation is minimal now. While Erie has historically been a champion for residents when major disturbances impact the community, like the Allo rollout, now there is no apology, and residents are told that they are on their own.

Erie's challenges can be overcome with a new leader and a re-commitment to long-term decision-making and the values that have made it the absolute best place to live in Colorado.

I am running for Erie Mayor because I love Erie and I know that we can do better at determining our future.

  • I will work to restore an inclusive planning process that welcomes residents' voices back into the conversation.

  • I will bring a proven track record of nonpartisan leadership.  I am committed to solving problems in the best interest of Erie's residents above myself and partisan politics.

  • I will work to restore transparent fiscal accountability so residents can be confident that town leaders are good stewards of your money and investing in what matters.

  • I will lead to invest in and expand our community-centric amenities and events because a strong, safe community in which to live and raise our families is more important than anything else.

I am humbly asking for your vote as Erie’s next Mayor to recommit Erie to inclusive, long-term decision-making and the core values that have made Erie the absolute best place to live and raise a family. Together we will ensure Erie’s future.

Proven Leadership

I am a positive, proactive problem solver with the energy to lead Erie at a time when our future is uncertain and strong leadership is necessary.   I believe good ideas can come from anywhere, and we must work together no matter where one sits on the political spectrum. I have shown time and time again that I can collaborate with diverse views to come to a consensus on a path forward.

With a CU MBA and degrees in computer science and sociology I have diversity in my educational background that has shaped my leadership approach.

As CIO of Colorado School of Mines, I problem-solve and build community every day.  I'm currently leading an effort to implement AI into the business of education to reduce errors and remove mundane tasks from our staff so they can focus on more advanced work.  I will bring the same AI understanding and benefits to Erie.

As a three-term Erie Mayor from 2004-2010, here are a few achievements:

  • rainy day fund was created

  • recreation center and ball fields were built

  • library district partnership got our library built

  • open space and trail fund was established

  • first-ever ethics ordinance was passed

  • first-ever unified development code was passed for quality and balance

  • 2005 comp plan update was completed with meaningful community input

  • IGA with Broomfield was inked, allowing King Soopers to come to Erie on Hwy 7

  • first bond rating for the Town of Erie through S&P and Moody was established
